Station/Operations Manager, Central Illinois Radio Station

The Station Manager ensures the smooth daily operation of the station. They assist with and manage the administrative, technical, program, fundraising/”SHARE” and underwriting aspects of a station.  Building meaningful relationships with listeners, donors, pastors, ministry and community leaders is a priority.


Expectations

Reporting to the General Manager, the Station Manager will oversee day-to-day activities that provide excellence in broadcasts, financial stability for the station, and the supervision and coordination of the schedules, workflow, and responsibilities of various staff members in a manner consistent with the overall objectives and mission statement of Good News Radio Inc.

The Station Manager will be expected to lead by example Christian character and traits consistent with a Godly life. When interacting with staff, the Station Manager should display spiritual growth and maturity, cognizant of the fact that they are a disciple of Jesus and an ambassador for God.

The Station Manager should be able to wholeheartedly support the Mission (to educate, edify and evangelize) and Doctrine Statement of Good News Radio, Inc. (attached for review and signing).

Essential Functions

  • Actively provide direct oversight of the station staff, clearly communicating expectations for their regular work duties and assignments.
  • Maintain a personal on-air presence and work with production staff to see that the on-air sound is done with excellence.
  • Ascertain local needs and follow the general ministry focus established by the Board & General Manager; ensuring oversight, direction and guidelines for consistent, quality content delivery.
  • Develop and cultivate meaningful donor relationships through daily calls, written notes, email message and scheduled appointments.
  • Plan and oversee the local semi-yearly SHARE fundraising events.
  • Provide direct oversight of station underwriting and its implementation, and approve all spot messages prior to recording.
  • Monitor and assist General Manager with the development of and adherence to the annual budget.
  • Ensure that the daily programming of WLUJ’s Audio Vault automation systems is working and set
  • Work with the General Manager to oversee the completion of the Quarterly Issues/Programs reports as per FCC rules. Insure the Public File is current and accurate. Oversee Sound Exchange reporting.
  • Work with programmers on promotions, changes, and financial “share” agreements.
  • Encourage and solicit donations from individuals, groups, churches, and business leaders. Possibly seek grants from Corporations. Work with the General Manager to establish endowment and legacy giving.
  • Assist General Manager with the development of effective listener events and campaigns that will benefit the radio ministry and the listening communities it serves.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
